[닥터후] s5 ep10 - Vincent Van Gogh

닥터 후라는 드라마를 즐겨보지는 않았지만, 기억에 남는 에피소드가 있다.

그림을 좋아하던 내게 친구가 추천해주었던 에피소드.

고흐가 살던 시대로 날아가는 이야기였다.

 

에피소드 중간중간에 나오는 반 고흐의 그림들과

그림에서 튀어나온 것 같은 까페, 들판, 그의 방과 같은 익숙한 장소들이 반가웠다.

 

에피소드의 하이라이트는 마지막 장면이었는데,

닥터가 반고흐의 전시회가 열리는 현대로 그를 데려오는 장면이었다.

 

배려심 깊은 닥터는 도슨트로 보이는 또 다른 닥터에게 질문한다.

반 고흐가 미술사에서 어떤 위치에 있나요?

 

"Well... um... big question, but, to me Van Gogh is the finest painter of them all. Certainly the most popular, great painter of all time. The most beloved, his command of colour most magnificent. He transformed the pain of his tormented life into ecstatic beauty. Pain is easy to portray, but to use your passion and pain to portray the ecstasy and joy and magnificence of our world, no one had ever done it before. Perhaps no one ever will again. To my mind, that strange, wild man who roamed the fields of Provence was not only the world's greatest artist, but also one of the greatest men who ever live" 

 

자신의 그림을 보러 와 준 사람들과 도슨트의 진심 어린 대답에 감동받아버린 반 고흐.

이 장면에서 이상하게도 고흐의 고독함이 너무 절실하게 느껴졌다.

생전에 얼마나 듣고 싶은 말이었을까.

 

이 장면에 나오는 배경음악도 참 좋다.
